VNHNO - Construction of a 40.6MW solar power plant commenced in the Mekong Delta province of Long An on September 16.
Invested in by the BCG Bang Duong company, a member of the Bamboo Capital Group (BCG), the project covers 50.2 hectares and has a total investment of US$42 million, in Thanh An commune of Thanh Hoa district.
Tran Van Can, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said that this is the first solar project that the province has hosted, which is a milestone in the province’s new power development programme.

The operation of the plant will pave the way for other similar projects in the locality, he said.
When operational, the plant is set to produce approximately 60 million kWh of power each year, helping to enhance the capacity of the national power grid.
The project includes the construction of a 110kV transformer station in Thanh Hoa district, a road system, a pumping station system for reservoirs and a 9km transmission line.
It is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by June 2019.
Nguyen Ho Nam, BCG President, said that the firm will cooperate closely with leading global enterprises in solar power towards ensuring the highest quality and environmental safety.
It has partnered with Syntegra Solar of Germany as the designer and monitor, he noted.
