VNHNO - A delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee led by Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and President of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front (VFF), Tran Thanh Man, paid tribute to late President Ton Duc Thang on August 18 at his Memorial in My Long ward and his Monument in My Hoa Hung commune, Long Xuyen city, An Giang province.
The delegates remembered the great contributions made by late President Ton Duc Thang to the nation’s revolutionary cause.

Comrade Ton Duc Thang was born in An Giang province on August 20, 1888, to a family with a rich tradition of patriotism. He joined the patriotic struggle when he was very young and soon became one of the pioneers of the working class and national liberation movements, significantly contributing to worker’s movements around the world.
During his 15 years in Con Dao prison (1930-1945), he became a spiritual leader to the political prisoners held at the prison.

After the success of the August Revolution in 1945, he was released from prison and comrade Ton Duc Thang joined hands with the Party, people and army to build a people’s democratic administration in order to complete the cause of national liberation. He was the State President from 1969 to 1980.
On the occasion, the delegation presented 20 gifts to policy beneficiary families and poor households in My Hoa Hung and My Hoa, Long Xuyen city.
At the same time, the delegation visited and inaugurated the Great Solidarity residential area in My Hoa ward, handing over 42 Great Solidarity houses to the poor families in the area./.
