Many resources have been mobilized to implement this mission. Efforts have been made to invest in and equip educational institutions serving the Khmer community, focusing on improving infrastructure, upgrading educational equipment, and innovating teaching methods. These initiatives have significantly contributed to enhancing the quality of education for ethnic minorities and advancing the overall educational development of the region.
The facilities at the Danh Thi Tươi Secondary Boarding School for ethnic minorities (Khanh Binh Tay commune, Tran Van Thoi district) have received attention and investment to ensure teaching and learning for Khmer ethnic children.
Currently, there are two specialized schools in the province dedicated to educating the children of the Khmer community: Danh Thi Tuoi Secondary Boarding School for ethnic minorities, Khanh Binh Tay commune, Tran Van Thoi district and Ca Mau Provincial Ethnic Boarding School (1st Ward, Ca Mau city). The Danh Thi Tươi Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, established on September 29, 2003, was upgraded to an ethnic minority boarding school under Decision No. 1415/QD-UBND, dated September 12, 2014, by the Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee.
After 21 years of construction, growth and development, the teachers and students of Danh Thi Tuoi Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities have been actively improving the quality of education, especially in the education of ethnic minority students. This has contributed significantly to the region’s educational development. According to Ms. Le Hong Thanh, Vice Principal of Danh Thi Tuoi Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities: “Currently, the school’s facilities are adequate to meet the teaching needs. Classrooms, laboratories, offices, and functional rooms are fully equipped and operate efficiently. In recent times, the school has also actively promoted various teaching and learning competitions, organized cultural, sports, and recreational activities, all contributing to meeting the targets and tasks set out. The school serves around 200 students from grades 6 to 9, and follows the 2018 National Education Program, including teaching the Khmer language and script to ethnic minority students in a specialized environment”.
With about 200 students from grades 6 to 9, the school teaches and evaluates students according to the regulations of the 2018 general education program and teaches speech and writing to ethnic minorities in specialized schools”.
The school has extensively integrated information technology into its management, teaching, and learning processes.
Danh Thi Tuoi Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities employs a total of 21 staff, including teachers and other personnel. The staff is highly trained and adheres to established standards and regulations. The school's leadership places a strong emphasis on both teaching and student development as its primary mission. As a result, the Board of Directors has implemented a range of effective strategies that have significantly improved the quality of teaching and learning. These efforts have led to impressive outcomes, including a student promotion rate of over 98%, with more than 50% of students achieving good to excellent academic performance. This progress has contributed greatly to the enhancement of local education and training. According to Principal Doan Van Lac, “In our efforts to implement educational reforms and drive digital transformation, the school has fully integrated information technology into both teaching and administrative processes. This adoption of digital tools has modernized school operations and significantly enhanced the quality of education. We have digitized a wide range of documents as required and adopted electronic signatures for streamlined task management. The majority of our teachers now utilize contemporary teaching methods, crafting digital lesson plans and incorporating multimedia presentations in every class. Moreover, we are constantly innovating the content, methods, techniques, and formats of our teaching to stimulate students' creativity. These initiatives have made learning more interactive and engaging, leading to noticeable improvements in academic performance”.
In addition to teaching and learning, in recent years, the school has fully implemented policies and support systems for Khmer ethnic children. This includes ensuring their living conditions, food, accommodation, as well as opportunities for entertainment, cultural and artistic activities, and physical education and sports. To effectively promote education for ethnic minority children, the school has introduced several meaningful initiatives, such as the “Raising a piggy bank helps you overcome difficulties”; “The green house supports students in challenging circumstances”. These initiatives have received active participation from the majority of students. The total funds raised through these models amount to nearly VND 5 million, which has helped 18 students overcome challenges and excel in their studies. Additionally, the funds have been used to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds during traditional holidays and the Khmer New Year. Nguyen Nhu Ngoc, a 9th-grade student at Danh Thi Tươi Ethnic Boarding Junior High School, shared: “My family is facing difficult circumstances. I live with my elderly grandparents, and our house is far from school. Over the years, thanks to attending Danh Thi Tuoi Ethnic Boarding School, I have received support from teachers and staff in terms of food, accommodation, and daily care. They have created all the conditions for me to attend school easily, and I am very grateful. I will strive to study well to live up to the expectations of the Party, local authorities, teachers, and my friends”.
The children of the Khmer ethnic community are provided with comprehensive care and attention regarding their study and living conditions.
Mr. Doan Van Lac, Principal of Danh Thi Tuoi Ethnic Minority Boarding Junior High School, shared: “Despite facing many difficulties, the staff, teachers, and employees of our school have remained united, working together with determination and following the Party’s guidelines and the State’s laws and policies. Everyone has made continuous efforts for the common goal of education. Thanks to these persistent efforts, during the 4th Congress of the Ethnic Minorities of Ca Mau Province in 2024, our school was honored with a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for our outstanding achievements in implementing patriotic emulation movements among the ethnic minorities of Ca Mau during the 2019-2024 period. With the accomplishments we’ve achieved so far, the school’s management believes these are only initial results, and many challenges still lie ahead. Therefore, the school will continue to strive and overcome difficulties, working alongside various levels and sectors to improve the quality of education, particularly for the ethnic minority communities in the province”.
