Building on its solid operational foundation at Huu Nghi International Border Gate, Huu Nghi Xuan Cuong Joint Stock Company (Xuan Cuong) has been gradually expanding its operations into the Chi Ma border area. This strategic move is designed not only to broaden the company’s integrated logistics service network but also to position it to capitalize on emerging growth opportunities in Lang Son's border trade economy.

Border logistics facing growing capacity demands
As a strategic gateway for overland trade between Vietnam and China, Lang Son is experiencing a significant expansion in import-export activities. This growth is placing considerable pressure on local infrastructure and the capacity of the logistics sector to meet rising demand. According to figures released by the Provincial People's Committee, as of September 29, 2026, border gates across the province had processed nearly 500,000 vehicles transporting import and export goods, representing an impressive 14.6% increase year on year.
The continued rise in cargo volumes calls for a logistics infrastructure and services capable of responding flexibly to the specific operational requirements of each border gate. Key activities, including vehicle yard management, warehousing, cargo handling and vehicle coordination, form the backbone of border logistics operations, affecting the speed and efficiency of cross-border cargo movements.
Notably, on September 4, 2026, the Prime Minister officially approved the General Plan for the Chi Ma Border Gate Area through 2045. The plan envisages developing Chi Ma into a major hub for border trade and services, supported by modern, integrated logistics infrastructure, warehouses and distribution centers.
The new strategic plan not only creates significant room for growth in cross-border trade but also presents a major challenge for logistics service providers: Strengthening operational resources, improving management efficiency and adapting proactively to evolving market requirements and service standards.
Extending the Huu Nghi foundation to Chi Ma
With more than two decades of experience in logistics support services, Xuan Cuong has established a strong market position at Huu Nghi International Border Gate, one of the busiest crossings for freight traffic between Vietnam and China. With facilities covering 25.5 hectares at Huu Nghi, the company has developed an integrated service network covering vehicle parking and staging areas, specialized warehousing facilities, cargo transshipment, loading and unloading, as well as a range of value-added logistics solutions. This ecosystem is managed and optimized to align closely with operational demand, delivering sustainable value to business partners and customers.
Building on this foundation, in January 2026, Xuan expanded its operations to the Chi Ma border area. The expansion draws on the experience and resources developed at Huu Nghi to serve a new location with considerable growth potential.
At Chi Ma, Xuan Cuong has adopted a flexible approach to logistics support services, tailored to local infrastructure and demand. To maintain consistent service quality, the company has proactively restructured its resources, standardized operational procedures and strengthened coordination across different stages of the logistics process. This approach enables Xuan Cuong to uphold its service commitments while remaining responsive to the distinctive operating conditions of its new location.
Its presence at both Huu Nghi and Chi Ma reflects Xuan Cuong’s long-term development strategy, which combines geographical expansion with stronger operational capabilities. Under this model, Huu Nghi continues to serve as the company's solid operational base, while Chi Ma provides a new gateway for market expansion. Together, the two locations enable the company to enhance its overall capacity to meet the growing demand for logistics services along Vietnam's northern border.
From corporate capabilities to greater trade connectivity
In cross-border logistics, operational efficiency depends on seamless coordination among multiple links in the supply chain, from cargo reception and vehicle staging to handling, delivery and cargo handover. Expanding into new locations therefore requires logistics operators to maintain service reliability and consistent quality across areas with different infrastructure and operating conditions.
Drawing on its practical experience and operational achievements at Huu Nghi, Xuan Cuong’s management has identified three core priorities for its development at Chi Ma: Strengthening management capabilities, digitalizing and standardizing operational processes, and leveraging the expertise of its experienced workforce. The aim is to transform existing resources into tangible value for customers while fostering sustainable strategic partnerships.
From a broader perspective, the proactive expansion of domestic logistics companies such as Xuan Cuong into key border-gate areas provides an important additional resource for the development of border trade infrastructure. With systematic infrastructure investment, wider adoption of technology and higher service standards, border logistics can become a solid foundation for import-export businesses to optimize operating costs, improve supply chain efficiency and accelerate cargo flows across borders.
Xuan Cuong’s expansion from Huu Nghi to Chi Ma demonstrates a development strategy closely aligned with market dynamics and the broader national policy direction of strengthening Vietnam’s logistics capabilities. As the country deepens its economic integration, such well-grounded business initiatives not only reinforce the position of Vietnamese enterprises but also contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of the border logistics sector within the wider regional trading landscape.
