U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will pay an official visit to Viet Nam on July 28-29 at the invitation of Vietnamese Minister of National Defence Phan Van Giang.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang released the news at the ministry's press briefing held virtually on July 22.
During the upcoming visit, the two defense ministries are due to discuss ways to enhance relations between the two countries, realize agreements reached by the sides’ high-ranking leaders, contributing to promoting the Viet Nam-U.S. comprehensive partnership.
This is the first visit to Southeast Asia by a top member of the Biden administration./.
