The stage design for the opening ceremony of the 100-Year Wax Coconut Tree Festival.
With the theme "The Flavor of the Blessed Land," the opening ceremony of the 100th Anniversary of the Wax Coconut Tree Festival will be presented in a theatrical format, recreating and honoring the role and image of farmers associated with the wax coconut.
The artistic program is divided into four parts, following the emotional flow of a 100-year timeline, from the origins and formation to the development and aspirations for global recognition of the 100-Year Wax Coconut Tree Festival.
To mark the opening ceremony, the organizers plan to set off a 15-minute low-altitude fireworks at the Cau Ke District Stadium. The event will begin at 9:30 PM on August 25, 2024.
In addition, the 100-Year-Anniversary of Waxed Coconut Tree Festival will feature many distinctive activities such as: setting a record in a competition to prepare 100 delicious dishes from waxed coconut; an exhibition of local specialty fruits; a seminar on the current status and potential of waxed coconut; and a tourism forum titled ‘Cau Ke - Potential by the Hau River’ focusing on promoting tourism investment.”
As part of the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week, the organizers will announce the cecision from the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism recognizing the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Festival in Cau Ke District as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage during the opening ceremony of the festival at 7:00 PM on August 27, 2024, at Cau Ke District Square.
Visitors can also explore and shop at the trade fair, which will feature over 200 booths at the Cau Ke District Stadium; experience the culinary scene at the Cau Ke Market area. Additionally, they can enjoy lion and dragon dance performances with the participation of 15 lion and dragon dance clubs from both within and outside the province at the District Cultural – Information and Sports Center. There will also be various sports and traditional games such as volleyball, pétanque, tug-of-war, sack race, pot smashing, and more.
Attending the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week in Cau Ke District is also an opportunity for visitors to explore the unique cultural aspects of the Hoa people’s worship of Ong Bon in Cau Ke through religious activities at Van Nien Phong Palace and along the streets of Cau Ke Town from August 27 to August 31, 2024.
