Sao Mai SuperFeed - Steps of creating sustainable values

The 3F (Feed-Farm-Food) process, which has been applied in the production of seafood products of its subsidiaries for more than 3 years of entering the market, has brought many positive aspects to the economic conditions of many local fish-raising households.

VIM - Famous for its quality and competitive price in the aquatic feed market, Sao Mai SuperFeed is always honored to walk with many aquaculture households across Vietnam. Through many ups and downs with Vietnamese fisheries, the brand that owns the largest aquatic food factory in the country is still proud to be the fulcrum for the fishery to create sustainable quality.

Remembering the old days when my father had to wade through the mud to pick up moss, worms just mixed with bran, tofu ... to feed fish. The life of a pure farming family was always heavy on his bare shoulders. Just like that, every day, he had three times of wading in the mud, stirring the food well. Yet thanks to those “dishes”, the fish grew faster and bigger, and was thick and firm. At that time, there was a good price for ouput fish, my family got a good harvest, my father bought a SH scooter. The children in the neighborhood were very jealous, because at that time not every house had enough money to buy this super scooter.

But there were the bad years when fish was sick, then they were dead in the white spread in such a full cellar. The officials from the Fisheries Association surveyed and said that due to the lack of nutrition of the fish, their immune system became weak and they were unable to adapt to the alluvial water pumped from the river. So my family had to sell the super luxury scooter SH and some other assets to offset the costs of the heavy losses that my father had to bear for many years. The fish was dead and the dream of a prosperous life also “dissipated” together with the fish.

Fish farmers who meet VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards all prefer Sao Mai SuperFeed brand because of the quality of fish after consumption.

Later, the Vietnam Fisheries Association in the Mekong Delta advised us to use fish feed products to achieve high efficiency in aquaculture, then the situation was more positive. The studied feed bags contained essential nutrients for fish, they didn’t need to mix with manual raw materials anymore. The nutrient content encapsulated into those feed grains was enough for the fish to grow and develop evenly, with less disease and the Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) also kept the revenue for the whole harvest.

And my dad had a whole warehouse full of sacks of food piled up like a  mountain. At that time, I, the kid, liked it very much, because I had the opportunity to climb the mountain, played in a narrow storage room, fed up with the smell of fish food, but they contained all my dad’s dreams of life changing that were slowly sprouting. Until then, he had to leave the fish farming behind, because fish prices in the 2000s were too catastrophic; the quality of food was not guaranteed and the traders were leading the market price, killing the his dream of fishing.

In 2017, when I heard in the capital of pangasius, they officially operated the largest aquatic food processing factory in Vietnam with a total capacity of 360,000 tons of finished products/year and then I was excited again for the future of the pangasius industry of Vietnam. Because it had been so rare until that time when the investor invested in modern production lines with European technology and engineering, with quality and adequate nutrition for fish. I became more and more happy because that would grant wings to the dream of so many suffocating aquaculture households, because the raw material market at that time was suffocated by the quality of the previous feed lines. And the dream of the super scooter of the children in that small neighborhood would not be too high anymore when the strategic investor of the pangasius capital, with his talent and vision, researched and built an effective process of pangasius consumption for the local farmers.

The 3F (Feed-Farm-Food) process, which has been applied in the production of seafood products of its subsidiaries for more than 3 years of entering the market, has brought many positive aspects to the economic conditions of many local fish-raising households. It is more desirable when the price of pangasius in the area has been stabilized by the Group for many years when it commits to underwrite the linked farmers with the same price previously.

Most farmers now apply VietGAP, GlobalGAP quality processes with the companion of food bags with Sao Mai SuperFeed brand. Tons of fresh, preservative-free raw fish are put into processing and exported each year, contributing to improving the quality of finished fish for export on international markets, reinforcing Vietnam’s pangasius export position.

“Sao Mai SuperFeed’s food is not the highest priced food on the market, but it has top 3 quality in the aqua feed market. These factors have reached the farmers’ hearts for more than 3 years after Sao Mai SuperFeed entered the market.” – said Mr. Truong Vinh Thanh - Deputy General Director of Sao Mai Group.

Focusing on how to develop, Sao Mai SuperFeed continues to diversify food products for agricultural fisheries such as perch, snakehead fish, Red Tilapia, frog ... Although raw materials for food processing are being pushed up to the limit of prices because speculators found “opportunities” in the Covid-19 pandemic, but the price of Sao Mai SuperFeed’s food provided to farmers has been always guaranteed with constant quality.

Sao Mai SuperFeed elevates the value of the Vietnamese fish industry, setting the wings of dreams for the children in that small village, from the heavy fish baskets on the shoulders and a cheerful smile on the black muddy face of farmers, within the sustainable quality of the domestic and international seafood market.
