Over 13,500 new businesses enter the market in first month of 2024

The number of newly-established businesses in January 2024 increased sharply in both the number and registered capital compared to the same period last year, reported the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Department of Business Registration Management.

Accordingly, the whole country had 13,500 newly-established businesses this month with registered capital of 151.5 trillion VND, an increase of 2.2% in number of businesses and down 2.3% in registered capital against December 2023. The registered number of workers was 103,400, up 31.8%.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of newly-established businesses increased by 24.8% and the registered capital increased by 52.8%, while the number of employees increased by 50.8%. The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise reached 11.2 billion VND, down 4.4% from the previous month and up 22.4% over the same period last year.

Regarding 218.7 trillion VND of additional registered capital of 4,400 ongoing businesses, the total registered capital added to the economy in January 2024 was 370.1 trillion VND, down 2.1% from the same period last year.

The country also recorded nearly 13,800 businesses resuming operation, an increase of 2.2 times against December 2023 but a decrease of 8.4% compared to the same period last year. Accordingly, the economy welcomed more than 27,300 businesses in total entering the market, an increase of 5.5% over the same period last year.

In addition, the country also saw 43,900 businesses temporarily suspending operation for a certain period of time, an increase of 25.5% over the same period last year, and 7,798 businesses stopping operation to wait for dissolution procedures, an increase of 14%. At the same time, 2,165 enterprises completed dissolution procedures, an increase of 6.2%./.
