HCM City hosts various activities on National Day

VNHNO - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan, led a delegation from the city authorities’ agencies to pay tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh Museum – the city branch, on September 1.

The activity was part of various events to celebrate the 73rd National Day, which falls on September 2.

The delegation also offered incense at the Ho Chi Minh Statue Park and at the Ton Duc Thang Museum, which is named after late President Ton Duc Thang.

Also on Saturday morning, an art exhibition with the theme "The feelings of Ho Chi Minh City and Shanghai (China)" was opened at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City’s Association of Culture and Fine Arts.

The exhibition introduces nearly 60 works by the two cities’ artists, expressing beautiful feelings about the life and development of Vietnam and China in general, and Ho Chi Minh City and Shanghai in particular.

The works are expressed in various materials with rich subjects and diverse genres by the Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City’s painters.

On the same day, at the city’s Nguyen Van Binh Book Street in District 1, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union held a meeting with Nguyen Long Trao, author of the memoirs " Khi To Quoc Goi” (When the Fatherland Calls), published by the Ho Chi Minh City General Publishing House.

The book introduces the younger generation to the intimate, simple and honest stories of a heroic generation, who fought against hardships and devoted all of their youth to the cause of national liberation and reunification.

At the meeting, young readers raised questions to Nguyen Long Trao about the stories in his memoirs, as well as his suggestion for the younger generation today./.
