Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung (R) meets Martin Dulig, Deputy Minister-President of German Federal State of Sachsen
Chairman Chung made his statement while receiving Martin Dulig, Deputy Minister-President and Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour, and Transport of the German Federal State of Sachsen, in Hanoi on November 19.
He said the capital city values its developing cooperation with several German localities. Most recently, local authorities supported the German Embassy in organising the Deutschland Fest 2018, which provided German experiences in Hanoi and attracted a large number of visitors.
The municipal leader stressed that Hanoi priorities using technologies from Europe, particularly Germany, in local projects for water supply and environmental pollution treatment.
The city has set the target of supplying all of its citizens with European-standard water by 2020. In response to the goal, over the past two years, 24 foreign and domestic investors have joined 31 projects. The Duong river plant, carried out by a German joint venture between the Aone Deutschland AG and Strabang companies, was among those projects. The plant began operations in October this year, producing 150,000cu.m of water per day.
For his part, Martin Dulig said Hanoi is growing with vitality and a young population, thus sharing many common challenges of other big cities around the world, including Sachsen’s biggest city of Leipzig.
He suggested the Vietnamese capital and cities of Sachsen work together to find measures for their development issues.
He said with its experience in waste water and environmental pollution treatment, as well as transport development, Sachsen is looking forward to joining collaboration programmes with Vietnam and Hanoi in particular, contributing to local urban growth and better living standards for all./.
