Attending the 20th International Conference on Volcanic Caves and the Scientific Conference "15 years of Geopark development in Vietnam" with the participation of many scientists from the Department of Heritage, Institute of Science Geology and Minerals of Vietnam, Hanoi University of Natural Sciences, Hanoi Open University; the delegates were leaders of the People's Committees of the provinces: Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Hoa Binh, Cao Bang, and Lang Son. Nearly 30 reporters from domestic and foreign news agencies and television stations came to directly report on the Conference.
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Mr. Ho Van Muoi - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed the honor of being the host of the 20th International Conference on Volcanic Caves - International Conference on Volcanic Caves. Volcanic caves were held for the first time in Vietnam and the Scientific Conference "15 years of Geopark development in Vietnam". At the same time affirming: The initiative to host an international scientific event affirms the determination of Dak Nong province in preserving and rational use of heritage values, especially geological heritages; is an opportunity for Dak Nong province to introduce and promote the system of volcanoes and volcanic caves - world-class geological heritages in the Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark region to domestic and international friends; at the same time, it is also an opportunity for Dak Nong province to learn from international experiences in the field of conservation, management and sustainable exploitation of heritage, serving local socio-economic development.
After the opening remarks by Mr. Ho Van Muoi - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee, Mr. John Brush - Chairman of the International Volcanic Cave Commission and Guy Martini - Chairman of the Geopark Council Global UNESCO, General Secretary of the Global Geoparks Network spoke in recognition of the efforts of Dak Nong in particular and Vietnam in general in the conservation and sustainable development of precious geological heritages; affirming the need to organize a Conference to exchange new scientific values on volcanoes and volcanic cave systems around the world; thereby proposing and determining ways to effectively conserve and exploit geological heritage values.
