VIM - Viet Nam entered the 88th consecutive day without any new community transmission of COVID-19, according to the National Steering Committee.
As of 6:30 am on July 13, the country's patient tally remained unchanged at 372, including 350 recoveries, accounting for 94.1%.
Up to 11,256 people having close contact with confirmed cases or coming from pandemic-hit areas are put under medical surveillance, including 25 at hospitals, 10,
On July 11 morning, patient 91, a 43-year-old British pilot and also the most severe case so far in the country, was discharged from hospital after 115 days undergoing treatment. He returned to the UK on a special flight later the same day.
As the country has successfully put the pandemic under control, the Government is now pursuing dual goal of COVID-19 containment and economic recovery.
The Government also tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work with competent authorities of foreign countries to increase the number of flights to bring home citizens stranded due to the COVID-19.
Over the past months, the Foreign Ministry has worked with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Transport to arrange 55 flights carrying nearly 14,000 Vietnamese back home safe./.
