VNHNO -  The sound cooperation between the court systems of Vietnam and Laos have made significant contributions to the special relations between the two countries, Lao leaders have stated.

Receiving Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam, Nguyen Hoa Binh, on August 27 and 28, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Bounnhang Vorachith and Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Laos, Pany Yathotou, emphasised the court collaboration between Vietnam and Laos as the court system has an important role in building a law-governed state to protect human rights.

They urged further cooperation between the two courts while proposing that Vietnam continues to provide training and share professional expertise, thus helping Lao judges to improve their capacity.

Besides assisting Laos in the establishment of administrative courts in its court system, the Lao leaders hoped that the Vietnamese side would share practical experience so that the courts will be put into operation soon.

They took the occasion to thank the Vietnamese Party, Government and people for their timely support for the victims of the Sepien-Senamoi hydropower dam break in Attapeu province. They said that it is a vivid illustration of the special Vietnam-Laos ties.

Briefing the Lao leaders on the cooperative achievements between the two courts in recent years, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam Binh said that the collaboration has developed in an increasingly substantive manner.

In the near future, both sides will further experience sharing and increase delegation exchanges in order to improve the efficiency of court operations in both countries, he said.

Vietnam will continue implementing training courses for Lao judges, while ten scholarships will be granted to Lao students to study at the Vietnam Court Academy from 2019, he added.
