The ISV Conference is the most important activity of the International Cave Association and the Volcanic Cave Commission (UIS-CVC) to create a forum for exchanging information, research results and connecting members in this field. Held once every two years, the ISV Conference and the congresses of UIS-CVC and UIS-CVC will hold a meeting of the Executive Board to discuss and vote on important issues for the Association's activities in the next years.
In July 2020, Dak Nong Geopark was recognized by UNESCO as a Global Geopark (Geopark). The name "Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark (Vietnam)" officially appeared on the map of the Geopark network, including 177 destinations. Dak Nong is the 3rd locality in Vietnam and 164th in the world to have a Geopark recognized by UNESCO as a Geopark.
Dak Nong Province's hosting of the ISV20 Conference is an important external event, helping the locality to effectively introduce and promote the volcanic cave system - geological heritage (with traces of pre-human culture). history) of international stature in the Dak Nong UNESCO Geopark. At the same time, attracting scientists to research, further enhance the value of the cave system, typical cultural values, sharing experiences, contributing to the conservation and effective exploitation of international heritage of Dak Nong province.
The initiative to host an international scientific event affirms the determination of Dak Nong province in preserving and rationally using heritage values, especially national geological heritages economic.
Through events at the Conference, Dak Nong wishes to seek investors to accompany Dak Nong to invest in, develop tourism infrastructure, and connect infrastructure to destinations in Dak Nong UNESCO Geopark to realize its views. "Developing tourism on the basis of promoting natural advantages, cultural values - indigenous ecological characteristics, Dak Nong UNESCO Geopark", making tourism truly one of the three pillars of economic development economy of Dak Nong, according to the orientation of the Resolution of the 12th Provincial Party Congress.
The ISV20 conference is also an event in Dak Nong province to celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day on November 23.
