It can be seen that the watershed area of Tien and Hau Rivers, the land located in the key economic region of the Mekong Delta, is speeding up its comprehensive development.

The below is the talk of our reporter with Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee to clearly see these leaps of the Province.
Reporter: First of all, would you like to share a few words about the successes that An Giang has achieved, as well as what is paid the most attention in the implementation process of the province?
Long Xuyen City is gradually improving to become a Type I City, belonging to An Giang Province.
With the spirit of being not afraid to overcome difficulties, for many years, An Giang Province has made great efforts in all tasks, taking advantage of and flexibly operating the entire political system and as a result, the socio-economic situation of An Giang province has a lot of positive changes. Specifically, in 2019, the gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 7.02% compared to 2018 (the highest rate in the last 5 years). The two main economic sectors of agriculture and tourism, have also developed in a favorable way. The fields of agriculture, forestry and fishery increased by 2.65%, contributing 0.82 percentage points to its overall growth. Rice and seafood are the two key commodities that have had positive changes, in which for the export market, the pangasius industry gradually improved the quality of raw materials, and strengthened the link chain among businesses and the farmers. Regarding tourism, the number of visitors to An Giang Province increased by 8.24% compared to the same period in 2018.

In order to promote the role of science and technology with the enterprise-centered base, An Giang province has issued the Decision No.71/2019/QD-UBND on promulating the support to promote the transfer, application and innovation of technologies in the province. For the work of branding, the province has issued the Decision No.1607/QD-UBND on approving the plan on building An Giang certification mark for agricultural products in the period 2016-2020, with the vision up to 2030. In order to realize the goals of improving productivity and quality of products and goods of small and medium-sized enterprises in the period 2016-2020, the province has issued the Decision No.794/QD-UBND to support the construction and application of quality management systems (ISO 22000, VietGAP, GAP, GACP, ...) and productivity and quality improvement tools (5S, Kaizen, KPI, TPM, ...) for businesses in the period of the economic integration.
Reporter: Recently, especially after the investment promotion conference, An Giang has become a destination for many big domestic and foreign investors, especially strategic investors. What are the core elements of this success?
An Giang province organized successfully the "An Giang Investment Promotion Conference 2018" with the participation and Presiding of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
At the An Giang Investment Promotion Conference in 2018, the Provincial People's Committee awarded the decisiones on investment plans for 26 projects with the total registered capital of about VND 27,658 billion; So far, two projects have been completed and put into operation. The Provincial People's Committee also signed memorandum of understanding on investment commitments for 10 project proposals with the total committed investment capital of VND 104,900 billion. Through the conference, potential investors came to An Giang to explore opportunities and deploy investment projects. From the beginning of the term up to now, the province has attracted 303 domestic investment projects with the total registered capital of VND70,955 billion (an increase of 128 projects compared to the previous term), the registered capital increased by 3.34 times (VND 50,332 billion).
The project "Marina Plaza Long Xuyen" is invested by CNC Group, contributing to upgrading the new face for Long Xuyen city, An Giang province and Mekong Delta region.
If I were asked what are the key factors for investors to trust in An Giang Province, it is the word of “Faithfulness” in the determination to fulfill the governmental commitments to investors in the view of “the success of enterprises is also the success of the province”. Accordingly, the works of investment promotion and administrative reform, creating a clear mechanism are the “sufficient” conditions for An Giang to become an impressive destination in the eyes of investors. It also partly shows the responsibility, devotion and pioneering of the provincial leaders and departments, branches and localities for investors and businesses. It is also further emphasized that An Giang always creates the most favorable conditions for investors to complete the necessary procedures to enter the market early, access to capital resources, meet the ground fast and human resources; At the same time, it is the companion, timely support and removal of difficulties and obstacles for investors and businesses.
Reporter: In 2020, An Giang still identifies the agriculture as the core of the economic structure. To do this, what are the important directions the province has decided?
As an agricultural province with advantages in trade and services, its investment resources for economic development are determined in order of priority of “agriculture, trade - services, industry – construction”, in which agriculture is one of the two key economic sectors that will be developed in the direction of continuously improving productivity, quality, efficiency, competitiveness and building a green economy to create foundations for the development of other areas. Therefore, An Giang will gradually change from the mindset to the modern direction, through breakthrough strategies to improve productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness, especially continuing to attract investment not at all costs but select the projects with advanced and environmentally friendly technologies.
The "Large sample field" model in An Giang attracts many farmers in the Mekong Delta to visit and learn from experience.
The year 2020 is especially important, being the last year of the 5-year socio-economic plan of the period 2016 - 2020, creating the momentum for the 5-year plan of the period 2021 - 2025; is the year of organizing many major events and the year of organizing the Party Congress at all levels advancing to the 13th National Party Congress of Vietnam Communist Party. Therefore, in order to successfully carry out the socio-economic development task, An Giang has set out key directions, accordingly, businesses and people are the center and will maximize the success of the public relations campaign towards the interests of the people. It will continue to effectively implement the instructions of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Council on building, completing and implementing the “Scheme of economic restructuring of An Giang province - creating the breakthrough towards sustainable development”. This project is expected to be a leverage and a guiding orientation for a series of policies on economic development of the subsequent years.

It can be said that the above factors are the basic foundations for An Giang to fulfill its available potentials. Accordingly, it is required that officials should promptly grasp the aspirations of the people and businesses, thereby helping the Party Committees and authorities promptly supplement and complete the guidelines and policies in line with the aspirations of people and businesses. Certainly, what An Giang always needs and respects is the “solidarity” into a collective unified bloc from the government - people - businesses.
